Come join in the fun at the monthly young folk’s get-togethers, organized by WPYC Youth Coordinator Christina Culp. Christina has a fun and wholesome activity planned for WPYC kids almost every month of the year. Events are planned for May 29^nd, July 17^th, August 28^th, September 18^th, and October 9^th. Most of the events are craft-oriented, involve some fun food preparation, and take place on the big club patio. Because food and supplies need to be ordered in advance for each event, pre-registration and fees ($10/child, $20/family) are required for all activities (a limited no. of scholarships are available). May 29^th  [10:30 am – 12:30 pm] Let's make the boys and girls “Spirit of the Sea” necklaces and bracelets! Then we will make our own individual one man cheese and/or pepperoni pizzas served with a cold drink! 

 

July 17^th [10:30 am – 12:30 pm] Let's make the “Spirit of the Sea” photo magnet craft kit [I will take a photo of each of the children by their boat with their parents] Hot dogs chips and cupcakes

 

August 28^th [11:00 am - 12:30 pm] Let's do the “Spirit of the Sea” prayer journal plus hamburgers, chips, cookies, drinks and snowballs

 

September 18^th [11:00 am – 12:30 pm] We’ll make “Spirit of the Sea” wind chimes, have pizza and drinks, then make and bake our own homemade choc chip cookies

 

October 9^th [11:00 am – 12:30 pm] Let’s make beaded crocodile key chains and have chili, cornbread, brownies, and drinks

 

12th Annual WPYC Youth Sail Camp

June 11-12 Youth Sail Camp for little sailors 6 to 10 years old

Friday night [6 – 8:30 pm] hot dogs, chili, chips, & cookies - plus sailing stations (on land) for knots, sailing terms, orientation, safety, and a sailing video

Saturday morning (9 am) – blueberry and plain panny cakes, bacon, cup of fruit, apple & orange juice – plus sailing in the cove (practice & games on the water)

Saturday lunch - pizzas, cupcakes and brownies, drinks – plus beach time, water games and more sailing (optional)

Saturday afternoon [2 – 3 pm] – ice cream sundaes – plus closing ceremony & awards on the patio

WPYC Experiences For Sailors 11 through 16 years old

On-the-water sailing experiences this summer on larger sailing yachts can be arranged with some of WPYC’s most experienced sailors. Small group outings (both half day and overnight) can be set up as scheduling permits. Families may accompany young sailors. Learn docking, handling lines, hoisting and lowering sails, use of winches, steering a course, safety procedures, sail trim, sailing terms, basic navigation (reading charts, recognizing landmarks, etc.), and anchoring.
